ICHA Updates

Sales and Construction: Twenty escrows are left to close in Phase 8.  General maintenance of the common areas/slopes is being turned over to ICHA.  Grading for Phase 8.5 could begin as early as December.  Five inventory homes remain unallocated.

Operations: Pools, Parks, and Trees: At the November meeting, the HRB will decide when and which pools to close for the winter.  In the past, the Los Trancos pool has remained heated.  It was suggested that HRB consider keeping the new Phase 8 pool open during the winter months.  A problem was reported that the keys were not working for the women's room at the Phase 8 pool.  Residents are reminded that children under the age of 14 are not allowed to use the pool without an adult being present to supervise.  This is posted in the pool areas.

Future Growth: Future additions to the park areas may include a bounce wall and a tot lot.  A move was made, seconded, and passed unanimously by the HRB that ICHA request that the architects look for a site for a Bark Park while planning the new areas in the community.  The size discussed was a minimum of 25' by 100'.  Two locations mentioned were along the back of the soccer field or along the back edge of the basketball courts.

Tree Committee: The Tree Committee with Stephen Weller walked the paseos of University Hills.  The committee gave a list of suggestions to the HRB.  Richard Haier has offered to assist the committee and he will be asked to join per the HRB.  On the walk, the committee noted that people are not cleaning up after their dogs, problem trees, landscape areas that are being over watered, and slope areas that were in need of improved maintenance.  A written report of observations and suggestions was presented to HRB and ICHA to consider for implementation.

Architectural Review: ICHA will deal with two tree houses that have been erected in greenbelt areas following complaints from residents.

Old Business and New Business:

By the time of the next newsletter, the garage and yard sale will have been held on Saturday, October 12 on the Gabrielino parking lot.  The party celebrating the victory for the students at Turtle Rock Elementary will have been held in Vista Bonita Park, on Sunday, October 13.   The Halloween Party will have taken place at the Los Trancos Pool on Sunday, October 27.

The Vista Bonita Park had overflowing trash containers and trash bags following parties on the weekend of September 27th.  HRB requested that ICHA place additional trash containers.  Residents are requested to dispose of excess trash themselves after using the parks.  Sewer and storm drain cleaning will again be scheduled.

There are three seats available for the HRB in the coming election.  A call for candidates will appear in this newsletter with candidate statements to be submitted by November 15th for the December newsletter.  The December newsletter will also include the ballots.  Voting will close on January 5 and the newly elected members will be contacted for the January meeting

---Respectfully submitted, Jeffrey S. Beckwith
